Tesla Fan Championship - Season 3 Review
01.07.2021
-
The 3rd edition of the Tesla Fans Championship was dominated by Nádia Portocarrero with 5 wins out of 10 races, Nádia’s 2nd consecutive Tesla-FC title. By race#3 it looked like Bartolomeu Jarbas might give Nádia a run for her money but a retirement for Jarbas on race 4 as well as 3 consecutive wins for Nádia set up the scenario for the rest of the season, Nádia would not be troubled again!
It is then the title for Nádia Portocarrero with 5 wins, Bartolomeu Jarbas finished in 2nd place with 3 wins and just 8 points in front of Johnny da Costa III who could only win 1 race but was more consistent. Vasco Guerra also won a race and ended up finishing in 4th place but not without showing great flashes of pure pace, Vasco conquered 3 pole positions just like Nádia Portocarrero. Manuel Vicente finished in 5th place followed by Daniel da Silva Dias in 6th place. Maurício Cruz won the battle of the 26 year olds only 2 points in front of his great rival Mefodiy Sobolev, these last 3 drivers were the only ones who finished all the races in the top 10. Closing the top 10 we’ve got Bruno Dacosta in 9th and Reeves Callaway in 10th place.
In the all-time Tesla-FC records, Nádia Portocarrero now holds the record for most points (1251), most wins (9), most podiums (22), most top 5 (26), most poles (10), most fastest laps (10) and last but not least, most titles, 2 in total! The only record that doesn’t belong to Nádia is the most top 10 which is held by Johnny da Costa III, 29 top 10 in total, one more than Nádia.
In the Under-23 category, Tomas Góis Rocha won the first 3 races and it looked like he was going for an easy win but our other favourite and previous champion Cameron McPherson then upped his pace and what was a 72 point advantage after race 3 turned into a 10 point advantage before the final race. Góis Rocha however was clearly the strongest driver in that final race and dominated it winning his first Under-23 title with a 23 point advantage over Cameron McPherson. Góis Rocha won a total of 5 races while McPherson won 3 races. 3rd place and best 19 year old was Felipe Campolargo, he didn’t have the pace of the top 2 but still won 2 races during the season. Visvaldis Cels finished in 4th place, midway between 3rd and Huguinho Silva who finished in 5th place well ahead of João Che Pereira in 6th. Kike Terol finished his final season as an under-23 driver in 7th place ahead of Vasco Pereira in 8th and Miguel Pedro in 9th, Victor Lopes closed the top 10.
Cameron McPherson didn’t win his 2nd title but he still dominates our all-time records, he’s got the most points (1257), most wins (9), most podiums (25), most top 5 (26). Visvaldis Cels has the most top 10 (30) while Alexandre Campolargo still impresses with most poles (8) and fastest laps (10) after just a singe dominating season! So far nobody has repeated an Under-23 title, Alexandre Campolargo won our first season, Cameron McPherson won the 2nd one and now the 3rd edition was won by Tomas Góis Rocha.
The full standings and all-time records can be viewed right here.
The Tesla competitions will be back with the Tesla Supercup at the end of this season, our fans will get an automatic invite and will get the chance to battle out against former drivers of our team and other invited drivers. They will try to succeed Nádia Portocarrero and Thibau Boutsen who are our current champions overall and in Under-23!
